Missile man of India A P J Abdul Kalam has strongly expressed his
concerns over the ongoing water wars. Kalam maintained that we cannot
afford war over water. The former president of India suggested at a one
day conference ‘Agricon 2011’ organized by CII in Chennai that armed
forces have to be deployed to maintain rivers and dams in the country.
Kalam also voiced his opinion that interlinking of rivers is a must to avoid disaster due to flooding. Kalam added that river linking project have to be completed in two decades. The scientist also suggested that National Water Grid Management scheme that could resolve inter-state water disputes
